We all start at the beginning.
For me, that meant shamelessly performing my first photo shoot on a Sony Cybershot….with a tripod. OH THE SHAME. Or, oh…the sweet beginnings.
In the past 4 years of shooting together, we’ve learned quite a few things. One of those things is the importance of community; of support and collaboration. The vital part of our business that is YOU; other photographers, other beginners, those way more rad and far along than us, our friends and family. We are not in this season by accident or mishap. We’ve learned and grown and gone to workshops and asked questions and graciously, people answered them. People taught us, people were patient with us.
As Kallima has grown and expanded and we learned more and more, we began to think about what was next. Now that we have some knowledge, who knows? Maybe other people could value from it. Maybe we could help others. Maybe, we could start to do some MORE things that we love. Ben LOVES teaching and instructing. That’s his background (along with media, video, anything technical you can imagine, oh and throw in some biochemistry and just slap on the title math genius) I love to help people. I am a sucker for anyone needing anything, anything at all. I’m a people-pleaser, people lover, and I thrive in an environment where I can give to others.
Now we wear all those hats, and then we became artists. Artists who are ready and EXCITED to teach, help, and give. All while having immense amounts of fun.
Enter, THE MAP – a workshop.
Its our first, but God-willing it wont be our last. We’ve planned and prayed and worked pretty darn hard, and today is the day to open registration!
This is a workshop for those desiring to learn more about those sweet beginnings. We’ll be covering things like camera basics and the importance of lens selection. We’ll be performing a live shoot and educating while shooting, and taking you all through our workflow (a workflow that has us editing a wedding in less than 4 hours start to finish). We’ll be drinking lots of coffee provided by our amazing friends at Habatat Coffee, where the workshop will be held. We’ll be listening to rad tunes while we learn, courtesy of Shannon at Liquid DJ’s (our GO TO GUY). We’ll also have Lauren of ELD blog there to educate you on getting published.
And we couldnt have done any of this without the following peeps:
friends + family
