It's hard to describe what it feels like as a photographer to feel like you're an invited guest to a wedding. Of course, circumstances surrounding 2020 truly forced people to think small and safe and plan their wedding in an entirely new way. But, I'm convinced that if there were more than 12 people at this wedding and it was actually 100...I would have felt just as valued by Sam + Drew. Having photographed her cousin's wedding in Montauk years back, I had developed a bit of a relationship with Sam during quarantine and the 2020 insanity. Their plans had to change multiple times, but for them the most important thing was just that they could get married and celebrate that.

It all came together in the end. We enjoyed the meal of our lives at Blue Hill at Stone Barns. It was a perfectly gorgeous fall day that required a coat when dusk fell. It was just these 12 wonderful people who care so much for Sam + Drew, all gathering together come hell or high water to eat and fellowship and laugh and cry and witness something amazing. Two becoming one.
